The offering institution must be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body, or by a recognized professional accrediting or training body appropriate to its programs and course(s) of study. The offering institution must be authorized to operate in the state where the criminology- or criminal justice-related Web-based program or for-credit course originates. Institutions offering programs or for-credit courses are responsible for satisfying all in-state approval and accreditation requirements prior to enrolling students. The offering institution must demonstrate that its Web-based criminal justice distance learning programs and/or Web-based criminal justice for-credit courses are consistent with the institution’s stated purpose. The offering institution must have in place clear and explicit goals for its Web-based criminal justice distance learning programs and/or Web-based criminal justice for-credit courses. The offering institution's criminology- and criminal justice-related programs and for-credit courses must meet the same standards of academic quality when offered electronically on the World Wide Web as they do when offered through more traditional instructional modalities. The offering institution must periodically review its Web-based distance learning criminal justice educational programs and/or Web-based distance learning for-credit criminal justice courses to ensure continued compliance with these guidelines. Each program, course of study, or individual for-credit course offering must result in learning appropriate to the rigor and breadth of the degree, certificate, or credit hours awarded. The offering institution must ensure student access to needed learning resources, whether in electronic or print form. The offering institution must provide students with structured access to, and interaction with, appropriate faculty members via the Internet. Appropriate faculty members include those directly involved in instructional delivery and student support services.
